Welcome to our June Newsletter
Ahhh June - is there a better month? Every month has its pleasures, but June is so blessed - beautiful flowers in abundance - especially roses. Make sure you appreciate the wonderful perfume as well as their beauty.  Savouring good things is so important to our mental health and wellbeing. As people who attend my training will have heard me say, our brains are like Teflon for the good things that happen (we forget them, minimise them, discount them), but they are like Velcro for the negative things that happen. We hold on to them, stress and worry, ruminate, unless we are wise to what is going on. Taking time to stop and smell the roses is important - you have full permission to go out and smell the roses.

During May we were very busy delivering Mental Health First training, including a session with our Wokingham hosts Cordell Health  They are hosting regular Open Mental Health First Aid sessions with us, so you can sign up as few as one person for this important and valuable training.  Do check out their lovely new website and see what they offer - their work is around Occupational Health, physical and mental and on developing great workplaces.
Our next Open 2 Day MHFA course with them is on June 18th & 19th and you can find the details here

Also during May we had other training sessions and our Laughter Yoga Club session - First Sunday of the month - June 2nd this month, 1.30pm. Do book here  It's free BUT signing up helps us to organise things

We were guests with Sonia Grime - The Recovery Coach on her Radio Marlow FM show, which was a lovely experience, Sonia really made what could have been very stressful a pleasure - her enthusiasm for all things to do with wellbeing shines through  You can listen to our part on her show here   (We start at around 33 minutes into the show)

We were also guest speaker with Ethical Reading at their Monthly Meet Ups held in Reading.  Our talk about the Science of Happiness was very well received by their audience of over 50 people.  Do get in touch with them if you want to be involved in making Reading and surrounding towns more ethical - in the broadest sense.  They are looking for individuals and workplaces - small and medium sized, who may benefit most from this.

We also tried an advert in Psychologies Magazine - which is always a good read anyway, so if you saw this ad - yes  it's US!!

Future Plans
As well as the MHFA training and Laughter Yoga club above, we are making some exciting plans developing and refreshing some of our training packages ready for delivery soon.  We are especially excited about our refreshed course on Increasing Resilience - boy do we need to be resilient these days!  We will bring this to you as soon as we have completed it.

MHFAider Support
We are developing two complementary training sessions to offer to organisations who have trained MHFAiders and are either

1. Needing guidance with the implementation of their MHFAiders, or
2. Are looking for ongoing support with their MHFAiders

We want to ensure MHFAiders are enjoying the role and not getting overwhelmed with it as well as ensuring quality control - that they are delivering MHFA as it should be.  Ongoing support, in the form of reflective practice, skills refresher sessions, questions and answers, discussions and case studies, will give people an opportunity to remain confident and skilled. We suggest quarterly meet ups as sufficient to keep this going - eventually organisations may have the confidence to deliver it in-house themselves.
We have noticed that there is often a need for this wrap around service, as the role of MHFAider is new to many workplaces. We are so keen that MHFA training is put in place successfully and will soon be offering this support - do contact us if you would benefit from this service.

CIPD Festival of Work
We also love the I-act training course with its focus on promoting wellbeing and understanding mental illness for Managers. We will be delivering more of these courses in June as well as joining i-act on their trade stall at the CIPD Festival of Work event on June 13th at Olympia in London - do come along and say hello!!

Wellbeing in Wokingham Conference October 10th 2019
In our role as Chair of Wellbeing in Wokingham Action Group we want to tell you to
HOLD THE DATE - October 10th,
which is World Mental Health Day.  We are once again planning a Wellbeing in Wokingham Conference and will very soon have further announcements to make. Once again we will have inspirational speakers, workshops where you can "Have a Go" and a wellbeing marketplace where you can discover lots of ways to keep well.  If you would like to be part of that - perhaps you would like a stall or workshops - you can email us to tell us about yourself.  Last year we had over 100 people attend and expect this year to be much bigger. Please email here for that

Looking for a speaker for YOUR Wellbeing event?

Contact us for one of several topics we can speak about in inspiring, interactive and meaningful ways - topics include Science of Happiness,  (very popular!) Ways to Wellbeing, Managing Fatigue, Increasing Resilience, Reducing Stress.

Loving Kindness Meditation - a great way to start YOUR day

We have recently felt the benefit of starting the day with this beautiful meditation - firstly you say it to yourself, then to one or two people you care about, then to people who you know a little and then say it to the world!  Sets you nicely up for the day - try it and let us know how you get along. It is a well known meditation, so some of you may have heard it and, indeed, use it already. We wanted to bring your attention to it if you were unaware of it.
Have a BRILLIANT June and contact us, link with us, connect and comment - we are here to help YOU to Unlock YOUR Wellbeing!
Very Best Wishes
