Welcome to August!

We have seen several projects coming to an end in the last few days - which is to be expected, people wrapping things up and planning holidays.

Whether you are having a Staycation or going away, we hope you have a relaxing and fun filled time.

July has been so worthwhile - we saw another great group of people through the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) at Compass Recovery College -
Key Feedback: "Every week I learned something valuable" "I was very nervous, but I am glad I came - Anne-Marie gave lots of handy tips, great take home leaflets" "Its good to know there are kind people doing these courses".

It feels such a privilege to deliver this course, it is so VERY rewarding.
Not sure what WRAP is? See here for more information

We are continuing with our work to train lots of people in the skills of Mental Health First Aid. We had a great Open Group in Reading for the 2 day course in July - so 12 more wonderful people trained to support someone in crisis.

We have delivered two courses to teams in the Construction Industry this month - which is fantastic as the need is huge - you can read a lot more about it here  We are delighted to be making some in roads here.

We have delivered further afield too - going to Bristol to deliver to an International Law Firm, so the demand is varied, and the message is that we need 1 in 10 people trained so still a LONG way to go.

If you would like to join our next OPEN course, we have a 2 Day MHFA course in Reading, on October 2nd and 3rd. You will get so much more out of it than first aid skills, and we will make sure you have a great learning experience - and we only charge £200 per person, making it in the reach of more people. Sign up here

If you are looking to bring MHFA training into your workplace or community do contact us. You can be guaranteed a great Instructor - who is an Associate with MHFA England - a guarantee of quality and experience.  We love delivering this training and it shows in our great feedback.

If you are a Public Service or 3rd Sector - did you know we have a special rate for delivering in-house to you? Contact us for details.  Our passion is getting this training to support those who are supporting vulnerable people.

Here is a very short video about Mental Health First Aid in the workplace - do feel free to share to others who may be interested.

What next?
We are still delivering training over August - we will be working with Windsor & Maidenhead's Opportunity Recovery College bringing WRAP to another group of people, hoping to really support their recovery.

We have some MHFA training courses booked in too, but in general we will be taking it easier and reflecting on what we are doing.

We have put together a chart which we are going to use to aid our planning and evaluation about our future focus.  You might find it useful too, so we are sharing it with you - helpful if you are planning and evaluating your work and/or life. Good for feedback if you are a line manager, or mentor, teacher, etc

We continue to work with and support Ethical Reading and joined with them and Brighter Berkshire for an Information Evening about mental health in July. They are working towards making Reading a better place to work and live - if you are interested in how they are going about this do look at their website for more. They host regular events and meeting in Reading.

We are joining the Wellbeing team in Reading for their Disability Awareness Day on August 8th - see you there?
We continue to work with and support Depression Xpression too - both the Reading group and the newly formed group in Wokingham - see flyer below.  We spent an evening discussing Stress - the good, the bad and the "Goldilocks Zone" of stress - with the Reading group.
1st August sees the 3rd Wokingham Depression Xpression meeting - do come along or tell others about it - it is purely lead by people who have experienced depression or anxiety, there is no need to book and its free.

In Wokingham, WIWAG (Wellbeing in Wokingham Action Group) is going from strength to strength. We are putting in place a great event for World Mental Health Day - October 10th - HOLD THE DATE!! We have many talented people working with us to make this happen. If you would like to join us please do - Facebook group has more information. Want to volunteer with us? You would be very welcome - bring your skills and ideas.

And finally - our wonderful 8 week "Exploring What Matters" course has come to an end.  A fantabulous group of people came together to follow this course by Action for Happiness and all kinds of magic happened. Really going to miss our Tuesday evenings with a lovely group of people, discussing the important things in life and improving our personal happiness and wellbeing, and improving the happiness of our communities. Do look out for a course near you - you will get an awful lot out of it.

In honour of them we leave you with the Action for Happiness calendar with a difference for August - enjoy working through it!

If everyone did everything on this calendar we would have a different world.

More news next month - have a wonderful calm, relaxing time during August and we hope to hear from you if you are considering any of our work.
